Darren I'll be honest the idea of a board like the old gnet is a great one, sometimes the advances create something which ends up being very flash, but slower and more unwieldy than the older versions. I think there are a lot of people that found the old board ran quicker and was easier to post on.

I agree completely, the chat side of things should
be click-click quick, as is chit-chat in real
life. Then again, it would be very old-fartish
to rally against the Internet's evolution of
course, and the so-called 'big' goundbreaking
broadband application is still unfound, as yet.
(Somebody has approached with one great [I think]
idea, but it would take a couple of years to
develop.)

I am surprised nobody's mentioned actually using
the old GNet code though.

I agree i am also surprised no one else mentioned re using the old code, and yes it is old fartish, but I think broadband will only really work for everyone when the damn servers can handle the traffic, the bigger files create. For chatting the old code was the best, the emoticons are beautiful and always create a mild giggle, and the avatars are cool too, but they all seem to strangle the bandwidth.

Carl - contacting Andrei for his assistance would
make life a bit easier for Dan?

As for the servers not handling broadband appli-
cations, it's ISPs not providing a decent down-
load service that creates the most problems. All
the user/host can do is pay extra cash for his
server to work better - which is invariably crazy
money, alas. Also, most website producers can't
be arsed optimising their sites for Quicktime
(for example) and just slap their content up
there badly compressed for download. If I eh,
borrow access to my 40 GB Quicktime server for
DR use, this won't be an issue. (Not until the
server falls over and I'm caught red-handed and
told to report to the Head Mistress for a good
spanking - I hope.)

Currency and information, mate, that's all that
really matters nowadays, even the Iraq war was
about the changes in global currency issues -
China, Iran, the dollar - and not oil, he says
tediously.

Our 'Head Mistress' is actually a Head of Depart-
ment who looks not unlike a Santa Claus. A handsome
man (who you just know that women of a certain age
find adorable), but not really my type.

I agree on the Santa Claus ideal I think that's why my dad likes having the white hair and the beard.

Yes unfortunately everything these days is all about information and currency. Information I can get by with or at least find out, currency unfortunately I seem to have a deficiency in, can't seem to improve on that one either, but hey a 50% hit rate is at least better tahn zero

Dan (Glamfly) has been after recreating the old board for quite sometime now, and has told me that if he ever figures out how to do it he would like to rebuild it. But his problem is he doesn't have the time nor the computer knowledge. But he has spoken of this many times.

Jonni - I ain't talking about personal currency,
mate, I'm (boringly) talking about global issues,
such as China's and Iran's pending decisions vis-a
vis intergrationalism with the US dollar. The
repercussions are endless (for economics), but
for us lipstick-lovers, rather irrelevant - for
now at least.

Carl - Why so, man? Is Andrei dead?
